Microsoft has been doing its bit to move people off Windows 10, and uring to upgrade to Windows 11. However, it’s now getting a little more blunt.
A new ad posted on the official YouTube channel of Windows tells users to stay on the “right side of risk” by switching to Windows 11. One could also see it as a new way of promoting its shiny new Intel-powered PC.
With support for Windows 10 ending in October 2025, Microsoft’s reminders are getting louder. While the message about security isn’t wrong, the delivery feels more like a warning than a helpful tip.
Windows 11 has been out for years. However, many users still prefer Windows 10. While some aren’t upgrading because they don’t want, others aren’t making a move because their PCs just can’t handle the upgrade. The hardware requirements for Windows 11, especially the TPM 2.0 rule, have left many systems behind.

Microsoft says that it offers extended support for Windows 10, but it’s expensive. In other words, this ad says upgrade now, or risk being left behind—with no updates and, supposedly, less security.
All that said, this isn’t the first time Microsoft has promoted Windows 11—but with an ad, and a subtle warning like that, this might be the first.
