Owlcat Games is diving into sci-fi with The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, a third-person, story-driven action RPG based on the hit TV series and books. Known for isometric titles like Pathfinder and Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, the studio is shifting gears to deliver a cinematic, choice-heavy RPG more in line with Mass Effect.

Set during the first two-and-a-half seasons of the show, players take on the role of a Pinkwater Security mercenary trapped on Eros Station. You’ll build your own captain—Martian, Belter, or Earther—assemble a squad, fly your ship, and travel to iconic locations like Ceres and Mars.

Owlcat promises party-based combat with real-time gunplay, branching dialogue, and romance options. Some actors from the show are even returning, though no names yet. The team openly cites Mass Effect as a core influence, and they’re leaning into the moral complexity and grounded sci-fi tone that defines The Expanse.
